It’s early, and I’d better head out soon. We’ve got that relative rarity and all-round comic masterpiece, Snow on the Lower Mainland.
Vancouver doesn’t get much snow. People here don’t install snow tires (I don’t, and I grew up in snow country), but that isn’t the biggest problem, which is simply that people here don’t know how to drive in the stuff. Traffic this morning will be terrible, and this is said as someone who regularly sits in a 10 km lineup to get over the Port Mann bridge.
So I’m going early, and packing for a trip. I’d better hit the road. Wish me luck. Full report on arrival.
** Update **
Made it just fine. There was some grunge on the freeway in the slow lane, but it wasn’t bad at all. Listening to the news, the bridge is backed up about 14 km, so it could be a whole lot worse. The trick is to travel at lighter times so that you can leave the required space, which most people don’t do.
we had our first snow on oct 26 and yesterday i took the garden hose into the basement to thaw down the floor drain.
But it’s a dry cold.
